New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Zomato co-founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal, facing criticism over his decision to launch ‘pure wage mode’, said on Wednesday that the company will not hire a separate rider. Earlier, the ‘Pure Veg Mode’ required riders to wear only green livery and not red, which is Zomato’s colour. “We will have a separate rider for vegetarians, but not for green,” Goyal said in his post on X. All our riders will wear red.” This means that there will be no separate rider identification for vegetarian orders.
The company CEO said, “This will ensure that our red uniform delivery partners are not wrongly associated with non-veg food and are not blocked by any RWA or society during a particular day… for the safety of our riders. is most important for us.” Late on Tuesday, Goyal had clarified that if the company finds anything wrong in the decision, “we will immediately withdraw it”.
“We have now realized that some of our customers may also get into trouble with their landlords and it would not be a good thing if that happened because of us,” Goyal said. Earlier, they had announced a separate rider for 100 percent vegetarian customers. His decision was heavily criticized on social media. The ‘pure vegetarian mode’ will include restaurants that serve only vegetarian food and all restaurants serving non-vegetarian items will be excluded.
