New Delhi. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Monday said that RuPay has now launched the option of paying without CVV (Card Verification Value) for its debit, credit cards.
The corporation informed that this facility will be offered to those prepaid cardholders who have tokenized their card on the merchant’s app or webpage. In this new CVV-less experience, it has been ensured that the cardholder will be able to access his/her mobile number at any time, NPCI said in a statement. No need to access wallet or remember any card details.
This will happen only if they have tokenized their card on the platform of the e-commerceã seller. Under the token arrangement, a code number ie token number is used in place of the actual card details. This arrangement of the Reserve Bank of India is considered safe in terms of transactions because the actual details of the card are not shared with the merchants at the time of transaction.
