Srinagar: The youth playing street cricket in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir were surprised when none other than the legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar came to play with them. Tendulkar, who was visiting Jammu and Kashmir for the first time, got down from his car when he saw some youngsters playing cricket on the road with a cardboard carton and an empty oil can as a stump.
Tendulkar posted a video on Twitter which he titled “Cricket and Kashmir: A match played in heaven”. In this video, he can be seen playing 9 balls in which the local people are watching him playing with great curiosity. Tendulkar’s wife Anjali can also be seen smiling in this video clip. At the beginning, Tendulkar tells the boys, “Let us play.” Who is your bowler?” After this he took the bat in his hand.
Tendulkar, wearing a brown jacket, faced nine balls and also hit his favorite straight drives and a scoop shot. Tendulkar retired from cricket in 2013. Tendulkar also attempted a paddle sweep and then held the bat upside down and jokingly said, “This will have to be out.” (Now you have to throw me out). Tendulkar, however, could not be dismissed and concluded his batting in this particular cricket match with a drive.
Tendulkar, who played for India in six World Cups, also posed for photographs with his fans after this. He said smilingly, “My attention is on you.” Tendulkar had visited Kashmir last week. He visited a cricket bat manufacturing company in Sangam area of South Kashmir and then went to Pahalgam. On Wednesday he visited the Aman Setu bridge on the Line of Control in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said that during this time Tendulkar talked to the soldiers at the command post near Aman Setu. His daughter Sara is also with him in this tour.
