Bangalore. South Korean electronics major Samsung will set up smart manufacturing capabilities at its Noida mobile phone plant to make production more competitive. A top executive of the company’s mobile business said this. Responding to a question on investment plans in India, Samsung Electronics President and Head of Mobile Experience Business TM Roh said the company will continue to invest in R&D centers in the country. “We will continue to invest in bringing smart and efficient amenities to Noida here,” said Roh. We believe that our investment in the smart factory will make the production competitive.”
The company started manufacturing, research and development centers in India in 1996 and has approximately 70,000 employees in the country. The plant in Noida is the company’s second largest manufacturing facility in the world and the R&D center in Bengaluru is its largest in India. Roh said, “Samsung India is focusing on ‘Make in India, Make for India’. We are using it as an export center as well as meeting domestic needs. The company has started manufacturing its expensive Galaxy S23 series in India this year.
