Referring to Sarath Babu, Rajinikanth said, ‘I have never seen him being serious or angry. You all know that all the films I did with him were huge hits – Mullum Malarum, Muthu, Annamalai and Velaikkaran. He had a lot of love and affection for me… He always used to regret my smoking. Used to tell me that if you want to live long, you have to leave it. If he saw me smoking, he would snatch the cigarette and put it out. Therefore, I had also decided in respect that I would never smoke in front of him.

However, Rajinikanth also revealed that Sarath Babu himself brought a cigarette for him during the shooting of a scene in ‘Annamalai’. Thalaiva said that day was like an exception. He told, ‘We were shooting a challenging scene in Annamalai. There was a scene in the film after my and their relationship turned sour. We took a lot of retakes because the emotions were not coming through properly. Then he gave me a cigarette and told me to relax first. After that I felt comfortable and then we took the final take. He always advised me about good health, but now he is no more.
