SBI’s statement regarding Rs 2,000 note, said- no form or identity card will be required to change the note

State Bank of India (SBI) has written to the Chief General Managers of all its local head offices, saying that the general public will not need any form to exchange Rs 2,000 notes up to a total of Rs 20,000 in one go.
Recently, a new guideline has been issued by the State Bank of India (SBI) regarding the 2000 rupee note. According to this, the people who have to change the notes will not need any ID to change the notes. People will not have to give any kind of ID to change the note, even they will not need to fill any kind of form. SBI has made it clear that a maximum of 10 notes can be given at a time to exchange notes, that is, Rs 20,000 notes can be exchanged.
SBI has also issued a notification in this regard. Let us tell you that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes from circulation on Friday. The public was given time till September 30 to deposit or exchange these notes in bank accounts. However, the Rs 2,000 note will remain legal tender till September 30, while the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were invalidated overnight in November 2016 demonetisation.

The Reserve Bank has not fixed any limit for depositing such notes in its account. This is subject to meeting Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and other applicable statutory requirements. The basic rules of the bank have to be followed regarding depositing there.
The bank said in a notification issued on May 20, “There is no need to submit any identity proof at the time of exchange.” In this regard, many misleading information is also being spread on social media which is not correct. SBI has asked its local head offices to arrange all assistance for the public. According to sources, one can stand in the queue any number of times to exchange Rs 2,000 notes. Note exchange facility has been available since May 23, but many customers who reached their branches on Saturday to exchange Rs 2,000 notes were explained and sent back.
