SCO members should respect sovereignty of countries: Gadkari

Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari while chairing the 10th meeting of SCO Transport Ministers said that India pays special attention to SCO to promote economy and people-to-people contact in the region.
New Delhi. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that connectivity with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries is a priority for India. They stressed on ensuring demand-driven, sustainable development while upholding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of each country. Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari while chairing the 10th meeting of SCO Transport Ministers said that India pays special attention to SCO to promote economy and people-to-people contact in the region. Connectivity with each other is an economic multiplier in itself… Connectivity with SCO countries is our priority, he said. We must ensure cooperation, demand-driven development and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country.
He said India is committed to promoting solutions to make the transport sector more efficient and reliable. Gadkari said, “India appreciates the initiative of SCO members. The SCO aims to strengthen security in the region and enhance cooperation in political trade, science and technology. “We assure everyone that India stands ready to cooperate to improve engagement in the region,” he said. Gadkari said in a tweet, all member countries agree with the idea of working together with SCO member states to promote digital transformation and innovative technologies, decarbonize transport and increase efficiency and sustainability.
