Scuffle with Indian Ambassador to America

On the occasion of Gurpurab, when Indian Ambassador to America Taranjit Singh Sandhu went to a Gurudwara in Long Island, New York, a group of Khalistan supporters assaulted him there. It is noteworthy that amidst the fear of opposition from Khalistanis, Sandhu was warmly welcomed at Hicksville Gurudwara. Sources said that some miscreants tried to assault them but were thrown out by members of the Sikh community. Sandhu, in his statement at the gurdwara, assured members of the Sikh community that Indian diplomats in the US would provide them all assistance and support. Sandhu was also accompanied by Consul General Randhir Jaiswal and Deputy Consul General Varun Jeff in New York on this occasion.

Sandhu highlighted the growth in India-US partnership ranging from sectors like healthcare, energy, information technologies, new emerging technologies, semiconductors or education etc. On this occasion, members and officials of the Gurudwara honored the Indian Ambassador. Sandhu also expressed views about the Sikh Gurus, the historical contacts between the Sikhs and Afghanistan. He said that Afghan Sikhs have shown how to face adverse situations. Sandhu noted that three ‘forms’ of the Sikh scripture Guru Granth Sahib were brought from Kabul to Delhi in August 2021 after the Taliban took over Afghanistan. According to the video circulated of the incident of Khalistan supporters roughing up Sandhu, some Khalistan supporters surrounded Sandhu during his visit to the Gurudwara and asked questions about Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Khalistani separatist killed in Canada in June this year.

Whatever is being said and done in the name of Khalistan in Canada and America is being said and done by those people who have given up Indian citizenship years ago or have taken refuge in foreign countries due to being declared terrorists by India. Are or are not citizens of India. Now the question is that after Pakistan, why Canada and America are becoming the center of Khalistani supporters and anti-India people. The direct and obvious answer to this is that many European countries including Canada and America are not ready to recognize India’s growing stature at the international level. India has put the above mentioned countries in the dock not once but many times for adopting double standards towards terrorists at the international level, but the above mentioned countries are still following the policy of ‘I do not agree’.

The mutual relations and friendship between America and Canada are not hidden from anyone. America had earlier supported Canada in Nijjar case, then India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had opposed the anti-India policy adopted by Canada not once but many times in international forums and had also declared it wrong.

Under the guise of helping its friendly country Canada, America is trying to stop India’s progress on the path of development and growing stature at the international level by supporting Sarva Sarva Pannu of pro-Khalistan Sikhs for Justice.

Just as India, along with being self-reliant in every field, is succeeding in making its mark at the global level, America, which is a superpower, is not able to accept the fact that India will soon become the third largest country in the world after America and China. The economy is going to be developed, the success of India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission is also disturbing America. America, which provided all kinds of assistance to Pakistan against India, has now started giving direct support and protection to anti-India individuals and organizations to increase its pressure on India. America is still formulating its policy keeping in mind the India of the 1960-70s. Whereas 21st century India is moving forward today with new policies and new thinking. India’s progress is irritating America. That is why America and its friendly countries are trying to fulfill their political interests by putting pressure on India.

India today is not going to come under anyone’s pressure and is moving towards its goal ignoring the negative thinking of the above mentioned countries. This is a cause of trouble for the anti-India countries like America and Canada. Out of desperation, Canada and America are trying to serve their own interests by placing guns on the shoulders of Khalistanis.

India should continue to move forward on the path of development and self-reliance by maintaining patience and restraint. With time, these countries will be forced to accept the reality and adopt a positive policy towards India. Indians and the Government of India need to remain alert against India’s adversaries because nothing can be said about what the enemy will do when.
