Search for new faces to replace sitting MP in BSP

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has intensified its seat-wise exercise with the decision to contest the elections alone. BSP’s first focus is on those 10 seats which it won in 2019. There are reports of its current MPs coming in contact with other parties. In view of this, BSP is exploring their options. According to sources, BSP has decided in-charge on most of the seats. Majid Ali had been declared in-charge of Saharanpur seat long ago, but after that this work was stopped. Mayawati has now given instructions to do more work on the selection of candidates. Candidates will be announced only after complete exercise.

The party is also working on those special seats where it had secured more than 35 and 40 percent votes. It is noteworthy that BSP had fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with SP. He had fielded his candidates on 38 seats. Apart from these won seats, there were 10 more seats on which it got more than 40 percent votes. Here the defeat was achieved by a very small margin of votes. Apart from the won seats, there were 21 seats where more than 35 percent votes were received. The party has also searched for such seats where Dalit voters are in majority and here BSP’s performance is often better. These include some seats like Saharanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Bijnor, Nagina, Amroha, Agra. The party is trying to campaign properly in such strong seats by fielding better candidates. More and more meetings and gatherings of big leaders should be held here.

Well, even though BSP is contesting alone this time, the BSP chief has also said that it can join the government after the elections on its own terms. Keeping this in mind, BSP is preparing its strategy. If efforts are made to focus on strong seats, performance can be better. The biggest challenge among these is the sitting seats where she won last time. Even if it wins some seats, it is important for its plans after the elections. If after the election results no party gets absolute majority, then on the basis of some seats it can go with the party which is expected to form the government. In such a situation, she can join the government.
