Sensex closes after reaching historic high

Stock Market Closing Bell: Amid strong signals from the global market, the Indian stock market had a strong start on the first day of the financial year 2024-25. Sensex crossed 74254 for the first time during trading amid stormy surge. However, by the closing bell, the Sensex rose 0.49 percent or 363.20 points and closed at 74,014.55. Whereas, Nifty closed at 22,472.25 with a gain of 0.65 percent or 145.33 points. However, today there was some weakness in the auto sector due to the improvement in vehicle sales. Shares of 4058 companies were traded in the stock market on the first trading day of the week. Out of these, there was a rise in the stocks of 3233 companies. At the same time, a decline was seen in the stocks of 672 companies. There was no change in the share prices of 153 companies.
How was the performance on Sensex and Nifty?
Stocks of 19 companies on the 30-share Sensex of BSE closed in profit. Whereas, 11 companies closed with red mark. Amidst the bullish market, there was a rise in all the sectors on Nifty except FMCG and auto sector. The sectors with the fastest rise included banks, financial services, metal, pharma, private banks and consumer durables. At the same time, shares of JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Divi Lab, Shriram Finance, Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement and L&T were included in the category of top gainers. Whereas, shares of Eicher Motors, Titan, Nestle India, Tata Consumer and Bajaj Auto were included in the category of top losers.

The Indian stock market opened on a positive note for the third consecutive day on Monday. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 556.98 points to reach 74,208.33 points in early trade. NSE Nifty was up 192.1 points at 22,519 points. After this, BSE Sensex reached its all-time high of 74,254.62 points and NSE Nifty reached a record peak of 22,529.95. In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and China’s Shanghai Composite were in profit while Japan’s Nikkei was in loss. Earlier, American markets had closed with mixed trends on Thursday.
