Responding to a contempt plea, Deputy Solicitor General SB Pandey informed the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court that the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on October 20 had booked actors Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay for supporting tobacco companies. Notice was given to Devgan. Advocate Motilal Yadav had filed a petition raising issues related to the alleged involvement of celebrities, especially ‘Padma awardees’, in advertisements or endorsements of certain products or goods, which are harmful to the health of the public at large. .

The court had in August 2023 issued notices to the Cabinet Secretary, the Chief Commissioner and the Central Consumer Protection Authority, seeking contempt action for non-compliance of the September 2022 order, in which it directed the petitioner to approach the Government of India. Said.

Responding to the notice, the Deputy Solicitor General told the bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan that on October 20, a show cause notice was issued to actors Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan. He further said that Amitabh Bachchan had sent a legal notice to the tobacco company that had shown his advertisement, however, they had canceled his contract. The court has fixed the next hearing for 9 May 2024.
