Share Market Opening: Amid strong signals from the global market, the Indian stock market witnessed a stormy rise on the last trading day of the week. The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 70,853.56 with a gain of 268.91 points or 0.39 percent. At the same time, Nifty also created a new record and reached the level of 21278.30 with an increase of 95.60 points or 0.45 percent. 24 out of 30 Sensex stocks saw a rise. Whereas, 6 shares were trading with a decline. Infosys, Hindalco, JSW Steel, Tata Steel and ONGC were the top gainers on Nifty in the market today. Whereas, HDFC Life, Power Grid Corp, Bharti Airtel, Nestle and Britannia were among the top losers of Nifty.

Amid positive trend in the global market, Sensex and Nifty reached their all-time high in early trade on Thursday. Continuous inflow of foreign funds also boosted the rise in stocks. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex jumped 339.36 points in early trade to reach its highest ever level of 70,853.56. Nifty rose 115.45 points to its all-time high of 21,298.15. Among Sensex companies, shares of JSW Steel, Infosys, Tata Steel, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors and Reliance Industries were among the gainers. Shares of Nestle, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and UltraTech Cement were in loss. In other Asian markets, China’s Shanghai Composite, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei were among the gainers. American markets closed on a positive note on Thursday. Global oil standard Brent crude was trading at $ 77.03 per barrel with a gain of 0.55 percent. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 3,570.07 crore on Thursday.

Rupee starts flat at 83.30 per dollar

The rupee traded stable at 83.30 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday amid surge in crude oil prices. Forex traders said that the local currency strengthened due to continuous inflow of foreign funds and weak trend of the US dollar globally. However, the rise in crude oil prices limited its gains. The rupee opened at 83.30 against the dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market. After this it traded between 83.30 to 83.29 per dollar. The rupee strengthened by 10 paise on Thursday and closed at 83.30 per dollar against the American currency. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which reflects the dollar’s position against six major currencies of the world, fell by 0.02 percent at 101.94. Global oil standard Brent crude was trading at $ 77.01 per barrel with a gain of 0.52 percent.
