Share Market: Today the whole world is engrossed in preparations for New Year celebrations. Many changes related to finance and common life are going to happen in 2024. But, the most talked about thing in the financial world is that the Indian stock market is going to be open on the third Saturday of January. Along with this, trading is also going to happen. It is being told that the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) have planned to conduct a special live trading session in the market on January 20, 2024 (Saturday) for testing before switching to the Disaster Recovery Site (DR Site). The trading session will take place in two sessions. The first session will be held on January 20 from 9:15 am to 10:00 am and the second session will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 noon. NSE said that this is in reference to SEBI circular SEBI/HO/MRD/DMS1/CIR/P/2019/43 dated March 26, 2019 regarding Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Site Framework. The equity and equity derivatives segment of the market will be switched from the existing site to a disaster recovery site. There will be a special trading session along with intra-day switch.

NSE said in its circular that the first special session in the market will be for 45 minutes and the second trading session will be for 60 minutes. Apart from this, the pre-opening session will start 15 minutes earlier as per the rules. This step is being taken to switch from the primary site to the DR site. NSE clearing will not be available from 10 am to 2 pm on that day. The switch from Primary to DRS is being done as per SEBI rules and regulations. The early session of special trading will take place on the primary website, with the morning block deal window session from 8:45 am to 9 am, and the pre-open session from 9 am to 9:08 am. The normal trading session will start from 9:15 am to 10 am, the call auction illiquid session will start from 9:30 am to 9:45 am. The second special trading session will take place on the DR site from 11:15 am, followed by normal trading from 11:23 am to 12:30 pm. The closing session on the DR site will start from 12:40 pm to 12:50 pm, and the market closing bell will be rung at 1 pm. BSE said that the special trading session will be applicable only for equity and equity derivatives segments in the stock market. It is discussed that the main objective behind holding this special trading session is to check the preparedness of the stock exchanges to deal with unexpected events that may affect their operations, which will enable them to switch to the disaster recovery site in the stipulated recovery time. Online broking firm Zerodha (Zerodha) wrote on social media platform X that on Saturday, January 20, 2024, NSE and BSE will conduct a special live trading session in the equity F&O segment. There will be two sessions; First from the primary platform and second from the disaster recovery site of the exchanges. The firm said that it is important to keep some things in mind during live trading sessions. During this period, the upper and lower circuit limit for securities in the special session will be up to 5 percent. During this time, such stocks which trade in F&O segment will also be included. In those securities which already have upper and lower circuit limits of 2 percent, the limit of 2 percent will continue.
