Mumbai :The rupee gained 21 paise to trade at 81.15 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday. Forex traders said a rise in NDF market supported the rupee against the dollar. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee touched a rate of 81.24 against the dollar.
Soon it consolidated its lead and reached a price of 81.15. In this way, a strength of 21 paise was recorded in the rupee as compared to the previous closing price. On Thursday, the rupee had closed at 81.36 per dollar. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the dollar’s strength against major world currencies, rose 0.09 percent to 102.15.
International oil benchmark Brent crude futures rose 0.65 per cent to $86.72 per barrel. Meanwhile, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have bought in the capital market. As per the available data, FIIs made net purchases of shares worth Rs 399.98 crore on Thursday.
