Share market starts weak, Sensex falls 187 points

Share Market Opening: Indian stock market looked battered in the pre-opening amid weak global signals on the last trading day of the week. Due to short covering and selling by traders, the Sensex fell by 0.26 percent or 187.26 points to reach 72,909.66 at 9.25 am. At the same time, Nifty was trading at 22,091.20, falling 0.25 percent or 55.45 points. Out of 2948 companies trading in the market, 774 shares are showing losses. Whereas, the stocks of 2087 companies are seeing a rise. At the same time, no change was seen in the stocks of 87 companies.

What is the update of Sensex-Nifty?

Stocks of 15 companies in the 30-share BSE Sensex are trading with gains. Whereas, red mark is visible in the shares of 15 companies. Power Grid is seeing the highest rise on Sensex with 1.29 percent. Whereas, all the sectors on Nifty are trading in red mark. The biggest decline is being seen in the oil and gas sector. It was trading at 11,113.60, falling 1.49 percent or 168.25 points. Shares of UPL, Bharti Airtel, Britannia, Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises and Power Grid were among the top gainers on Nifty. Whereas, shares of BPCL, Mahindra & Mahindra, Coal India, Ifsys and HCL Technology have been included in the category of top losers.

On Thursday, the domestic stock market was successful in recovering from the huge fall of the previous session due to buying of shares of IT and metal companies. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex rose 335.39 points or 0.46 percent to close at 73,097.28. At one time during trading, it jumped 602.41 points to reach 73,364.30 points. The standard index Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also up by 148.95 points or 0.68 percent at 22,146.65 points. With this, Nifty had again achieved the level of 22,000 points. In this way, the domestic stock markets recovered some of the huge losses incurred in the last trading session.
