Mumbai Due to continuous buying of foreign funds, the stock markets continued to rise for the fourth consecutive trading session on Tuesday.
During this, the 30-share Sensex of BSE climbed 131.32 points to reach 62,977.70. The NSE Nifty was up 49.6 points at 18,648.25. ITC, UltraTech Cement, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HCL Technologies, NTPC, Titan, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Industries were among the major gainers in the Sensex.
On the other hand, Nestle, Tata Steel, HDFC, Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC Bank declined. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 1,758.16 crore on Monday, according to stock market data.
Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude was down 0.52 per cent at $76.67 per barrel. The Sensex on Monday closed at 62,846.38, up 344.69 points or 0.55 per cent, while the Nifty closed at 18,598.65, up 99.30 points or 0.54 per cent. .
