New Delhi, 12 December (Hindustan Reporter). Due to pressure of profit booking, the domestic stock market closed with a decline on the second trading day of the week today. Although today’s trading started with a new record of all-time high opening, but due to selling pressure in the market in the second session of the day, the market continued to fall. After the day’s trading, Sensex closed with a weakness of 0.54 percent and Nifty with a weakness of 0.43 percent.
During today’s trading, there was strong selling in shares of energy, realty and infrastructure sectors. Similarly, pharmaceutical, automobile and banking indices also appeared under pressure. On the other hand, buying continued in metal sector shares today. On the sectoral front, Oil & Gas, Capital Goods, Realty and Power indices closed with a decline of 1 percent each. There was continuous selling in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a weakness of 0.40 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today’s trading with a decline of 0.27 percent.
Due to the fall in the market today, the wealth of stock market investors decreased by more than Rs. 1.25 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined to Rs 349.80 lakh crore (provisional) after today’s trading. Their market capitalization on the last trading day i.e. Monday was Rs 351.09 lakh crore. In this way, investors suffered a loss of about Rs 1.29 lakh crore from today’s trading.
Today, there was active trading in 3,905 shares in BSE in the day’s trading. Of these, 1,753 shares closed with gains, while 2,035 shares closed with a decline, while 117 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,127 shares in NSE today. Of these, 765 shares closed in the green mark after earning profit and 1,362 shares closed in the red mark after incurring losses. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 11 shares closed with gains and 19 shares closed with decline. Out of the stocks included in Nifty, 19 stocks closed in the green mark and 31 stocks closed in the red mark.
Today, creating a record of all-time high opening, BSE Sensex crossed the 70 thousand mark for the first time and opened at 70,020.68 points with a gain of 92.15 points. In the initial trading, buyers and sellers in the market were seen trying to dominate each other. In the second session of the day, sellers completely dominated the market, due to which the index continued to fall. Under selling pressure, this index plunged by 484.68 points to reach the level of 69,443.85 points. After the day’s trading, the Sensex closed at 69,551.03 points with a weakness of 377.50 points.
Like Sensex, NSE’s Nifty also crossed the 21 thousand mark for the first time, creating a new record of all-time high opening and started today’s trading at 21,018.55 points with a jump of 21.45 points. Since the market opened, the movement of this index was seen continuously fluctuating. But in the second session of the day, this index continued to fall due to selling pressure due to profit booking. After buying and selling throughout the day, Nifty closed at 20,906.40 points with a fall of 90.70 points.
Today, after the day’s trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, HDFC Life, UltraTech Cement by 1.99 percent, Bajaj Auto by 1.89 percent, SBI Life Insurance by 1.43 percent and Axis Bank by 1.30 percent are the list of today’s top 5 gainers. On the other hand, BPCL 3.86 per cent, Apollo Hospitals 2.13 per cent, Maruti Suzuki 1.93 per cent, Sun Pharmaceuticals 1.88 per cent and Eicher Motors 1.84 per cent joined the list of today’s top 5 losers.
