New Delhi, 18 December (Hindustan Reporter). There was pressure of profit booking in the domestic stock market today, due to which the stock market closed in the red after facing ups and downs throughout the day. However, buying was seen in the broader market today, due to which investors made a profit of more than Rs 85 thousand crore after the day’s trading. After the entire day’s trading, Sensex closed with a fall of 0.24 percent and Nifty with a fall of 0.18 percent.

Shares of pharmaceutical, telecommunications, capital goods and services sectors remained the biggest gainers during the entire day’s trading. Along with this, Infrastructure, Metal, Public Sector Enterprise and Automobile indices also closed with gains. There was selling pressure in shares of banking, realty and FMCG sectors. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.28 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today’s trading with a gain of 0.48 percent.

Today, despite the fall in Sensex and Nifty, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 85 thousand crore due to continuous buying of midcap and smallcap shares. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased to Rs 358.73 lakh crore (provisional) after today’s trading. Their market capitalization on the last trading day of last week i.e. Friday was Rs 357.87 lakh crore. In this way, investors got a profit of about Rs 86 thousand crore from today’s trading.

Today, there was active trading in 4,028 shares in BSE in the day’s trading. Of these, 2,173 shares closed with gains while 1,714 shares were in decline, 141 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,166 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,165 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 1,001 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 12 shares closed with gains and 18 shares closed with decline. Out of the stocks included in Nifty, 17 stocks closed in the green mark and 33 stocks closed in the red mark.

BSE Sensex opened today with a weakness of 46.40 points at the level of 71,437.35 points. Today, in the first hour of trading itself, the Sensex fell by 341.46 points to 71,142.29 points due to selling pressure. With the support of buying, it also jumped up to 71,552.24 points. Despite profit-booking pressure in the first trading session of the day, buyers were seen trying to create buying pressure. In the second session, sellers completely dominated the market. After the day’s buying and selling, the Sensex closed at 71,315.09 points, falling 168.66 points.

Like Sensex, NSE’s Nifty also lost 21.85 points today and started trading at 21,434.80 points. After the market opened, this index jumped to 21,482.80 points with the support of buying. Later, due to selling pressure, this index fell by 91.30 points to 21,365.35 points. After the whole day’s trading, Nifty closed at 21,418.65 points with a weakness of 38 points.

After buying and selling throughout the day in the market, Bajaj Auto 3.04 percent, Hindalco Industries 1.64 percent, Adani Ports 1.46 percent, Sun Pharmaceuticals 1.38 percent and Reliance Industries 1.02 percent were today’s top 5 gainers. Power Grid Corporation joined the list of today’s top 5 losers with a weakness of 2.32 percent, ICICI Bank 1.54 percent, ITC 1.43 percent, JSW Steel 1.42 percent and Tech Mahindra 1.10 percent.
