Mumbai Local stock markets regained momentum on Tuesday and BSE Sensex gained 305 points. Amid a more or less strong trend in global markets, the market benefited from buying in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Motors and Sun Pharma, which have a good share in the index. BSE Sensex based on 30 shares closed at 73,095.22 points, up 305.09 or 0.42 percent. The first session of trading saw ups and downs but the market closed with gains in the stocks having a strong share in the index. During trading, the Sensex had once climbed up to 371.17 points.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty, based on fifty shares, also closed at 22,198.35 points, rising by 76.30 points or 0.34 percent. Among the Sensex companies, Tata Motors, TCS, IndusInd Bank, PowerGrid, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, JSW Steel and Tata Steel were the major gainers. On the other hand, losers include Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank and NTPC. In other markets of Asia, Japan’s Nikkei, China’s Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in profit while South Korea’s Kospi was in loss. There was a bullish trend in early trading in the major markets of Europe. The US market remained in slight loss on Monday.
Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Financial Services, said, “Hopes of a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war and softening of crude oil prices supported the sentiment.” According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors on Monday. Sold shares worth net Rs 285.15 crore. Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.16 percent to $82.66 per barrel. The Sensex fell 352.67 points on Monday, while the Nifty lost 90.65 points.
