Stock Market Closing Bell: The first trading day of the week was full of disappointment for the Indian stock market. The market fell drastically in pre-opening itself. Although the stock market tried to recover from the day’s low, it remained in loss till the closing bell. By the time the market closed, the Sensex was down 0.48 percent or 352.66 points at 72,790.13. At the same time, Nifty fell by 0.44 percent or 97.65 points and closed at 22,115.05. Shares of Power Grid, L&T, BPCL, Tata Consumer, Adani Enterprises, SBI Life and Adani Port were among the top gainers on Nifty. Whereas, shares of Asian Paints, Apollo Hospital, Hindalco, Tata Steel and Tech Mahindra were included in the category of top losers. On one hand, there was an upper circuit in the shares of Paytm, on the other hand, the share price of Asian Paints fell by about five percent.

What was the condition of the sectors?
A decline was seen in 26 out of 30 stocks on Sensex. At the same time, green mark was seen in the stocks of only four companies. Whereas, till the market closed, the shares of the companies were trading in profit. At the same time, a big decline was seen in Bank, Financial Services, IT, Metal, Pharma, PSU Bank, Private Bank, Reality and Consumer Durable on Nifty. Whereas, only Auto, FMCG and Oil & Gas sectors witnessed growth.

The Sensex fell 158 points in early trade on Monday amid mixed trends in global markets. BSE’s 30-share index Sensex fell 158.57 points or 0.22 per cent to 72,984.23, while NSE’s Nifty fell 33.20 points or 0.15 per cent to 22,179.50. Around 20 companies were in loss in Sensex, in which Asian Paints’ shares fell by about 3.60 per cent while Wipro, Titan and Tech Mahindra’s shares lost more than one per cent. 31 companies on Nifty were trading at loss. On Friday, Sensex and Nifty closed with a slight fall. According to stock market data, foreign sector investors (FPIs) made net purchases of shares worth Rs 1,276.09 crore on Friday.
