Stock Market Update: Bright returns to the Indian market, Sensex closes up 600 points

At the end of trading, the Sensex has strengthened by around 600 points. The BSE Sensex climbed 600.42 points, or 0.20 percent, to close at the level of 61,032.26 points. Similarly, Nifty closed at the level of 17,929.85 points with a gain of 158.95 points i.e. 0.89 percent.
Buying has been seen in the domestic stock market amid mixed global cues. From the beginning of today’s trade till the end, both the Sensex and Nifty indices have gained momentum. At the end of trading, the Sensex has strengthened by around 600 points. The BSE Sensex climbed 600.42 points, or 0.20 percent, to close at the level of 61,032.26 points. Similarly, Nifty closed at the level of 17,929.85 points with a gain of 158.95 points or 0.89 percent. Buying is being seen in heavyweight stocks in the sectoral index today. 19 stocks of Sensex 30 closed in the green mark. The BSE midcap index closed down 0.44. There was an atmosphere of selling in power and realty stocks.
Top gainers of NIFTY
On NSE Nifty, UPL shares gained 3.61 per cent, ITC 3.14 per cent, Reliance 2.44 per cent, ADANIENT 1.88 per cent, ADANIPORTS 1.86 per cent.
There was a break in these stocks on NIFTY
On the NSE Nifty, APOLLOHOSP declined by 2.45 per cent, EICHERMOT by 2.23 per cent, SBILIFE by 1.54 per cent, BPCL by 1.16 per cent and GRASIM by 1.15 per cent.
Indian rupee gains
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian rupee rose marginally by 0.21 paise to close at 82.72 against the US dollar as against its previous close of 82.43.
