However, taking cognizance of the matter, Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal has written to the police for action. But see the irony that the trend of maximum profiteering and marketist thinking has not spared even the children. The market of such toys has developed rapidly, which have a widespread effect on children’s health, their thinking and values, and India’s childhood is putting its health at risk due to these toys. The government has made rules to remove harmful toys from the market, yet they are being sold indiscriminately. In the present era of e-commerce, there is no need to even go to the market for such toys. On one click of mobile, such harmful toys reach at home. The Bureau of Indian Standards has made the specified safety norms mandatory from January 1, 2021, but action against non-compliance is negligible. However, in the last one month, the government is taking action against the toy traders who are not following the quality. Such actions should be continuous and licenses of traders violating safety norms should be forfeited forever.
Apart from toys and indecent comments, there are other scary scenes of growing insensitivity towards children, which also disturb and hurt. There are many complaints about the unwanted behavior of the so-called religious leaders with their innocent girl students, but in western Uttar Pradesh, a man had a fight with his wife, then he killed his innocent son. As if at home, family, school, ashram, temple market, panchayats, from small screen to big screen, innocent children are cursed to bear some savage, indecent, obscene and shameful behaviour. In spite of strict laws, incidents of surreptitious killing of unborn daughters in the desire of sons are also common, but giving birth to a living daughter tells new tales of cruelty. But innocent children are not the only victims of superstitions. The greed of sages, mutual world and conspiracy for property also make them their prey. According to a report last year, more than nine hundred children are victims of sexual crimes in the country every day.
Because of these attacks on innocent minds, we are creating a society in which violence, anarchy, obscenity prevail. Irritability and bad manners are being included in the nature of children. In many western countries including America, it has also happened that when there was a mutual quarrel on some matter, the child reached the school with a weapon. Some incidents may be the result of exaggeration or extenuating circumstances, but the increasing irritability and aggression in the nature of children all over the world should definitely be a matter of concern for every sensitive person. Eager to meet his dear ones with outstretched arms, childhood is facing many crises in his society and around the house. In metropolitan cities, the children of working parents are dependent on crèches or housewives, and the news of their ill-treatment keeps coming to the fore through television. Some time back there was a news on a channel, where the woman hired by the family to take care of the child, when her sleep was disturbed by the crying of the child during the day, lifted the innocent child and threw her on the sofa so badly that the viewers of the news were shocked. The soul shuddered. What is needed is that we understand the needs of the sensitive mind of children and cultivate them with a magic hug of love before their loneliness is afflicted by any fierceness or arrogance, because this responsibility towards children Will make our future golden. Instead of being insensitive towards children, an atmosphere full of affection, intimacy and trust should be created among them. The government should reconsider the laws related to children and arrangements should be made to stop the incidents of insensitivity towards children.
