‘Strength is not always Rambo…’ Hrithik Roshan shares mirror selfie with crutches after muscle injury

Actor Hrithik Roshan, who was last seen in the action film Fighter, shared a picture of himself on his Instagram handle, in which he can be seen standing with crutches and a brace. On Wednesday, the actor shared a mirror selfie and wrote a long note along with the picture. The actor recalled the incident when his grandfather was injured and he refused to sit on a wheelchair.

He wrote in the caption, “Good afternoon.” How many of you have ever needed to be on crutches or a wheelchair and how did that make you feel? I remember my grandfather refusing to sit in a wheelchair at the airport because it didn’t match his mental image of himself as ‘strong’. I remember I said ‘But Deda, it’s just an injury and it has nothing to do with your age!’ This will help the injury heal and prevent it from causing further damage. It saddened me to see how strong she needed to be to hide the fear and shame inside.

The actor shared that at that time he could not understand what his grandfather said and it made him feel helpless. They said, “I argued that the age factor is not applicable because he needs a wheelchair because of his injury, not old age. He refused and put the strong image on display for strangers (who didn’t really care). This increased his pain and delayed treatment. There’s definitely merit in that kind of conditioning, it’s a virtue. This is the mentality of a soldier. My father also comes from the same conditioning. “Men are strong.”

He further noted, “But if you say that soldiers never need crutches and should refuse them when they medically require them, just to maintain the illusion of strength, then that’s all I can say. I think virtue has gone so far that it borders on plain stupidity. I believe true strength is rest, restraint and being completely aware that nothing, not crutches, not a wheelchair, not any disability or vulnerability – and Certainly no amount of sitting position can diminish or alter the image of the giant that you are on the inside. Being a Rambo with a machine gun saying “F—m!” against all odds is not always a strength. “It’s definitely applicable. Sometimes.”

They said “And that’s the kind of thing we all aspire to. Me too. But strength is more prestigious when there is no one outside to fight.
