He said that sugar is also being made in the same premises. There are also oxygen plants and ethanol plants. In a special program organized on the occasion of completion of 120 years of the sugar industry in the state, Chief Minister Adityanath said that 120 years ago, keeping in mind the interest of the farmers, the first sugar mill in the state was established at Deoria (Pratappur) in the then Gorakhpur district. He said that the way sugar mills were closing down, farmers were desperate and distressed, were forced to migrate, had created a big crisis in front of the sugar industry; But after 2017 the environment changed.

Yogi Adityanath said that after discussing with the sugar mills, it was decided that as long as the sugarcane of the farmer is in the field, the sugar mills will continue to buy sugarcane and it is pleasant that the mills did the same. The Chief Minister said that in the last six years, in the ‘double engine’ government, one lakh 97 thousand crore rupees were paid to the sugarcane farmers through DBT (directly in the account of the sugarcane farmers). Soon it will be Rs 2 lakh crore. He said that today there are 100 sugar mills in the state, which are paying the farmers within 10 days of purchase. This is a big change, the rest of the mills should also make similar efforts. The Chief Minister said that today there is no problem of sugarcane slip, complaints of shortage have ended, so the number of sugarcane farmers has increased from 45 lakh to 60 lakh. The production of sugarcane has increased and so has the area. Not only this, the recovery is also increasing by more than 11 percent.,

In the presence of sugar mill owners, the Chief Minister said that sugarcane farmers are between the sugar industry and the government. Mills should keep farmers at the center of their policies. Referring to the challenges of the Corona period, the Chief Minister also appreciated the contribution of the sugar industry during that period. He said that industries were closed all over the country but the sugar mills of Uttar Pradesh were running and with the help of sugar mills, sanitizers were also made available in 23 states by producing record sanitizers. Sugar mills also installed oxygen plants. Worked together in times of crisis. On this occasion, a coffee table book based on the glorious journey of 120 years of sugar industry was released by the Chief Minister. Along with this, personalities who contributed significantly in making the sugar industry of the state prosperous were honored.
