ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between two of the world’s leading steel producers ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, has organized a series of events to celebrate the 52nd National Safety Week from March 4 to 10 at Hazira Surat.
In line with its commitment towards the safety of its employees and workers, AM/NS India is organizing various events under the theme “Our Mission – Zero Harm” during the National Safety Week.
The National Security Week began on Saturday with a flag hoisting ceremony. This was followed by Safety Nukkad, demonstration of various safety procedures for the employees of AM/NS India.
As part of the National Safety Week, an exhibition on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been organized. Another highlight of the week-long event is “Kaun Banega Surakshapati”, which will have several rounds of quizzes based on security and related aspects.
Sarang Mahajan, Head of Health and Safety, AM/NS India and Indonesia, said, “Safety is the most important value at AM/NS, and it is ingrained in our DNA through our entire operation. We give top priority to safety in all our operations. We have established stringent rules and procedures to ensure the safety of our workers and employees.
We also believe that security is the result of habits, not just systems or equipment. We aim to bring about a cultural change among everyone directly or indirectly associated with AM/NS India when it comes to security. We are confident that the various events organized during the National Safety Week will help us achieve this.”
As part of the week-long event, online expert sessions to educate workers on various safety measures and best practices to be followed, extempore LSGR (Life Saving Golden Rules), hazard detection, etc. will be held. Safety Kit, Safety Poster Competition, Safety Slogan Competition and Safety Poetry Competition have also been organized to involve more and more people in the safety initiatives.
National Safety Week is observed every year in India from 4 to 10 March to raise awareness about industrial safety and to promote a safe and healthy work environment. Its main objective is to create awareness about the various hazards present in the workplace and educate the employees on how to avoid them.
