Surat: Chamber delegation meets Industry Minister of Zimbabwe to promote exports under Mission 84. Loktej Surat, Business News

South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ramesh Vaghasia, Mission 84 Coordinator Sanjay Punjabi, Mission 84 CEO Paresh Bhatt and Mission 84 Core Committee members Komal Kumar Shah, Arvind Babawala and Devang Rao with the Chamber of Commerce delegation in Vadodara on Wednesday. The meeting was held with Raj Modi, Deputy Head of Mission, Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Peter Hobwani, Deputy Head of Mission Chancery and Nashibhai, Advisor for Economics and Commerce.

Chamber President Ramesh Vaghasia briefed the Deputy Minister of Zimbabwe and other dignitaries about the Vision SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 conducted by the Chamber of Commerce. He said that the Chamber of Commerce has created an online international platform under Mission 84 to increase exports from India, connecting 84,000 entrepreneurs-traders and exporters from India and 84,000 businessmen doing business in different countries of the world. The meetings are being held to bring together 84 Chambers of Commerce of India and Chambers of Commerce of different 84 countries of the world on this online international platform. Apart from this, meetings are being held to connect Consuls General, High Commissioners and Ambassadors of 84 countries working in India and various ambassadors representing India in 84 countries of the world on this portal.

He urged India and Zimbabwe to join Mission 84, which aims to strengthen Zimbabwe’s economies and increase mutual bilateral trade, and urged businessmen from their countries to make efforts to connect with its online international portal. Additionally, he invited a delegation of Zimbabwean businessmen to Surat for a business meeting, which the Zimbabwean Deputy Minister gladly accepted.

Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister Raj Modi told the Chamber of Commerce delegation including the Chamber President that he has a long standing relationship with Surat. He is a student of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat. He said Zimbabwe has abundant business opportunities in the solar, agriculture, textile and automobile sectors, hence he said industrialists, traders and exporters from Surat can export various products from the respective sectors under Mission 84. He further said that the Zimbabwe government is also very serious about payment assurance.

Apart from this, he invited the Chamber President to send a delegation of businessmen from Surat to Zimbabwe under the aegis of the Chamber of Commerce, so that the industrialists of Surat and the businessmen of Zimbabwe can have one-to-one business meetings with each other. He also said that he will remain closely associated with Mission 84 to further strengthen bilateral trade between India and Zimbabwe. He further said that while Zimbabwe is now an emerging country industrially, it will also be more active in international trade in terms of trade and commerce, which will directly benefit Surat entrepreneurs.

Zimbabwe’s Deputy Chief of Mission/Head of Chancery Peter Hobwani and Adviser on Economics and Commerce Nashibhai briefed the Chamber delegation on Zimbabwe’s various industrial sectors and the industries and businesses established there as well as investment opportunities.
