South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday wrote a letter to Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Textiles, and Darshanaben Jardosh, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways of India, against polyester yarn. It is proposed to extend the period of Quality Control Order, which is going to be implemented from 5th October, 2023, till the issues affecting the user industry i.e. weaving and knitting industry are resolved.

Chamber of Commerce President Ramesh Vaghasia said that for the first time in September 2021, the Central Government had implemented the quality control order on polyester yarn, which was to be implemented from April-2022, but the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry had implemented the quality control order. But since then, presentations were given from time to time as per the demands of the industrialists. To ensure that the business does not suffer losses, the Chamber, its members and the industry had repeatedly given memorandums to the Central Government.

The Chamber of Commerce has continued its efforts over the last two years to make the Quality Control Order and related BIS provisions acceptable to both manufacturers and users. Due to which he got extension four times in a row. For this, Union Minister Dr. through Chamber of Commerce. Mansukh Mandaviya and Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways Darshanaben Jardosh and Gujarat BJP State President C.R. Patil was thanked.

The Chamber of Commerce is making continuous efforts to ensure that the Quality Control Order is implemented only after the approval of both the manufacturers and users of the Quality Control Order and its related BIS provisions, keeping in mind the interest of the industry. Under which continuous meetings are being held with the weaving industry in the Chamber.

In order to ensure that quality control mandate does not create commercial difficulties in the modern weaving and knitting industry, the Chamber has suggested that the specifications in the quality norms of BIS should be changed as per the demand of yarn users and manufacturers. Also, FDY or POY yarns which are currently not available in India are requested to take appropriate decisions in the interest of the industries for continued availability.

The Chamber of Commerce has requested the Central Government to find an expeditious and appropriate solution to mitigate the problem of any stakeholder of the yarn industry and not to disturb the business. The Chamber of Commerce has requested the Central Government to extend the quality control order for more time.

Further, the Chamber of Commerce has also sought time to hold a meeting with the Union Ministers of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Commerce and Industry and Textiles and secretaries and senior officials of the Ministry to enhance the implementation of the Quality Control Order.
