South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and South Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industry Development Center jointly organized a four-day ‘ ‘Industry – 2024’ exhibition has been organized.

The ‘Industry-2024’ exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Farooq Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Energy Limited. Arun Choudhary, Director, Industry Interface and Technology Management, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. While Station Director of Kakrapar Nuclear Power Station (NPCIL) Ajay Kumar Bhole and Chief General Manager of State Bank of India Kshitij Mohan attended the function as special guests. Apart from this, General Manager of District Industries Centre-Surat, M.K. Nitin Malkan, Vice President of Ladani and Torrent Power Limited-Surat was the chief guest.

Chamber of Commerce President Ramesh Vaghasia welcomed everyone. In the welcome address, he said that the Chamber’s major biennial industrial exhibition ‘Udyog’ is the largest industrial exhibition of South Gujarat, which is being organized by the Chamber since 1998. Industry has proven to be the launching pad for many innovations and technologies in the last 13 editions, while this 14th edition of Industry will provide the necessary platform for entrepreneurs to exceed the standards of success in the industry.

The Chamber President further said that about 29.1 percent of India’s total GDP comes from industry and 53.1 percent from services. That means 83 percent of India’s GDP comes from trade, business and industry, so industrialists and businessmen will have to increase their efforts. Our manufacturing growth rate on CAGR basis should average more than 13 to 14 per cent and the services sector should also move in the same direction.

Dr. Farooq Patel (Chairman and Managing Director, KP Energy Limited) said that industries will now have to move towards green energy. The lower the carbon emissions, the better it will be for future generations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of producing 500 GW of green energy in the country by the year 2030. To achieve this goal, every citizen of the country will have to contribute. He said that all entrepreneurs and businessmen should support the Mission 84 project, which has been launched by the Chamber of Commerce to increase exports from the entire country including Surat.

Arun Choudhary (DRDO) said that the Indian Army is the world’s third largest arms importer in the defense sector after the US and China. Defense sector weapons are being manufactured and now they are also being exported. Due to its geographical borders with Nepal, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India has a large number of CRPF, BSF, ITBP, Paramedical Forces, Police Forces. Therefore he invited MSME entrepreneurs to come forward in the defense sector. ,

Ajay Kumar Bhole said, Atomic Energy Corporation of India manages all the nuclear power stations in India. The reactors at Kakrapar Station are of state-of-the-art design, built keeping in mind the current safety standards, and are completely indigenous. This is a matter of pride and realizes the dream of Make in India and self-reliant India. Nuclear stations will be established very rapidly in the coming times. Indian Atomic Energy Corporation has set a target to increase the capacity of nuclear power plants from 7480 MW to 22480 MW by the year 2031-32.

General Manager of District Industries Centre-Surat, M.K. Ladani said, after agriculture, MSME is the biggest employment generating sector. There are more than 6 crore MSMEs in India, including organized and unorganized, which provide employment to 12 crore people. 15 lakh MSME enterprises of Gujarat are registered on the portal. Surat alone has more than 3 lakh MSMEs registered and 20 lakh people are employed through them. He gave information about various schemes and acts related to MSME of Government of India and State Government. He said that earlier business up to Rs 10 crore was included in MSME, but keeping in mind the ambitions of entrepreneurs, the Government of India has changed it and has included business up to Rs 50 crore in MSME. So that entrepreneurs can take advantage of government schemes and achieve a new dimension in their business.

Chamber of Commerce Vice President Vijay Mewawala thanked everyone present at the function. The ceremony was conducted by Honorary Minister Nikhil Madrasi. The then former president Himanshu Bodawala, honorary treasurer Kiran Thummar, chairman of all exhibitions Bijal Jariwala, former presidents, group presidents, managing committee members, industrialists and businessmen were present at the function.
