Surat: Industrialists gave recommendations to the Chief Minister for the new textile policy of Gujarat.  Loktej Business, Regional News

A review meeting was held in Gandhinagar on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 regarding the new textile policy of Gujarat. At the meeting, South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other textile industry stakeholders gave recommendations to Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel regarding the new textile policy.

Chamber President Ramesh Vaghasia urged to take appropriate steps to sustain the textile industry and ensure that Gujarat’s textile industry does not lag behind other states. He said that the old textile policy of Gujarat has expired on December 31, 2023 and the new policy should be implemented from January 1, 2024.

Main recommendations:

  • To continue the ongoing assistance under the old textile policy.
  • To provide further assistance to industrialists
  • To provide 30% capital subsidy, 7% interest subsidy and power subsidy of Rs 3 per unit for LT and HT electricity connections.
  • Inclusion of good incentive scheme for better development of man made fiber industry.
  • Announcing new textile policy before the code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections

Assurance:

Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Mining Department, Gujarat Government, S.J. Haider (IAS) and Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department J.P. Gupta (IAS) assured the industrialists that their recommendations would be considered and the new textile policy would be announced soon.

This meeting is important for the textile industry of Gujarat, as it will decide the direction of the new textile policy.
