It is said that the sky has no limit, the Indian aviation sector has proved that statement to be true. Seven airports in the country managed by the Adani Group have registered record growth in passenger traffic. The current year has seen a 92% increase in domestic traffic and 133% increase in international passengers as compared to the previous year. Not only this, the number of domestic flights has increased by 58% and international by 61%. The airline industry had never expected such a strong growth post COVID-19. Air traffic has increased by almost 100% compared to the previous year, with over 14.25 million passengers using the airport, reaching pre-Covid levels. This level is still expected to remain unchanged. One of the reasons for the record growth in passenger traffic is the recovery of tourism after the COVID pandemic.

Being the second busiest airport in the country, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) recorded a movement of around 8.44 million passengers in January-February 2023. CSMIA has provided operational services to approximately 2.22 million international and 6.22 million domestic passengers.

India’s per capita air passenger traffic (ie, total air passengers/total population) is 0.12. It is 2.7 (22x) for the United States and 0.31 (2.5x) for China, indicating huge potential in the Indian aviation sector.

India is expected to have 1 billion passengers by 2040 and a CAGR (compound annual growth) of 8.5% for the next 20 years. At least 31 cities are expected to have dual airport systems, while Delhi-NCR, Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Bangalore are likely to have three.

The number of operational airports is expected to cross 200 with a total investment requirement (including land side development) of over USD 100 billion. The number of Adani airports serving more than 10 million passengers in a year will increase from 7 to 47. This is supported by projections of a fleet of over 2,500 aircraft by 2040 (India has 600 operational aircraft today). With the increasing entry of large organizations in the fleet, the traffic is expected to increase manifold.

Being the busiest airport in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) handled around 1.04 million passengers in the last two months. CCSIA has been leading in the first two months with around 136,880 international and around 9.03 lakh domestic passengers.

Is. Enhanced customer experience and security standards followed across all airports.

This growth was driven by positive sentiment towards air travel and strong growth in festivals due to the holiday season. Operators are well aware of both the challenges and opportunities that may arise with increased passenger numbers and flight schedules during the holiday season.

Great experiences and frequent travel play a very important role in today’s world. Adani Airports tries to keep waiting and congestion to a minimum with the help of operations managers.
