South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) organized a session on ‘Explore investment opportunities in Sao Paulo’ on Wednesday. In this session, Carlos Augusto Jantahi DQ Estrada Jr., Chief Councilor of Sao Paulo City, Brazil, gave detailed information to the industrialists of Surat about the business opportunities available in various industries and sectors. Paulo Ajevedi, National General Secretary of Indo-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also guided the entrepreneurs of Surat. He also held one-to-one business meetings with industrialists from Surat.
SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia said that India’s exports to Brazil have grown at an annual rate of 16.8 percent in the last twenty-seven years. He said the total investment by Indians in Brazil is estimated to be more than US$ 15.2 billion.
The Chief Councilor said that Brazil contributes 30 percent to the GDP of Latin America and the city of Sao Paulo is the economic engine of Brazil. He said that more emphasis is being given to the development of textile, pharmaceutical, renewable energy and social development sectors in Sao Paulo. He requested the industrialists from Surat to set up manufacturing units in Sao Paulo for the production of solar panels, textiles and pharmaceuticals.
He invited businessmen to invest independently as well as jointly in various industries in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He said that federal law is in force in Sao Paulo and the government and municipality there support entrepreneurs in doing business. Apart from this, loans are also given to the industry by the banks of their country. He also said that entrepreneurs manufacturing in Sao Paulo can also export their products duty-free throughout Latin America.
Paresh Bhatt, CEO, SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84, moderated the session. Mission 84 Core Committee member Chirag Khimani introduced Carlos Augusto Jantahi DQ Estrada Jr., Chief Councilor of Sao Paulo City, Brazil.
