On one hand, the preparations for Ram Janmotsav are going to be celebrated in a grand manner across the country. A different scene has been seen in Surat then. The holidays during the year for Surat’s textile markets are determined by the Federation of Surat Textile Associations (FOSTA). This time the demand of keeping the market closed on the day of Ramnavami was made by Vipra Sena, Hindu organisations, which was not accepted and blackened by throwing ink on the face of Fosta President.
blackened with ink
For the first time in FOSTA’s history, the president’s face has been blackened. Vipra Sena went to make a presentation before Manoj Agarwal, President of Federation of Surat Textile Association. They demanded that the cloth market of the entire city should be closed on the day of Ram Navami. But when that demand was not accepted, a large number of youths of Vipra Sena and Hindu organizations threw black ink on him and blackened his face.
It is not right to protest by asking for leave: Spokesperson
FOSTA spokesperson Ranganath Sharda said that today a total of 300 people of Vipra Sena and other Hindu organizations demanded closure of the market on the day of Ram Navami at FOSTA office. Holidays are decided during the year by FOSTA. Leave is granted accordingly. No holiday is declared like this suddenly. If suddenly a holiday is declared like this, then many people may be in trouble. But it has been presented in a very harsh manner and black ink has been thrown on the face of FOSTA President. We strongly condemn this matter. Textile market is fully operational on March 30, traders should not pay attention to any rumours.
demanded for three years but did not agree
Vipra Sena youth president Jai Sharma said that for the last three years, we have been proposing to Fosta, the main association of Surat textile market, to keep the market closed to celebrate Ram Navami, but till date our demand has not been accepted. Even today when we went to the court, we talked big but did not agree to close the market. In this regard, we have lodged a protest by throwing black ink on them.
VHP has nothing to do with ink throwing incident: Dinesh Navadia
The person involved in the incident of throwing ink on Fosta President Manoj Aggarwal describes himself as the Surat President of VHP Vipra Sena. In this regard, diamond industrialist Dinesh Navadiya, who is the national treasurer of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, said that there is a rumor of involvement of Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers in the incident which took place at FOSTA office in Ring’s textile market. No VHP worker is involved in this incident and VHP has nothing to do with this incident.
