Olympic and world champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was honored with a plaque at the famous ‘Ice Palace’ in Jungfraujoch, Switzerland, where plaques of many other star players are installed. Praising Neeraj Chopra’s brilliant achievements, Switzerland Tourism said in a statement that Jungfraujoch welcomed the athlete to unveil the memorial plaque.

India’s Olympic and world champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was honored with a plaque at the famous ‘Ice Palace’ in Jungfraujoch, Switzerland, where plaques of many other star players are installed. Praising Neeraj Chopra’s brilliant achievements, Switzerland Tourism said in a statement that Jungfraujoch welcomed the athlete to unveil the memorial plaque.

The Jungfraujoch is called the ‘Peak of Europe’. Chopra also donated one of his spears to attract tourists and it is kept along with the plaque. He thus joins star players like Roger Federer and golfer Rory McIlroy who also have such memorial plaques in the ‘Ice Palace’. Expressing gratitude at the unveiling of the plaque, Chopra said, “I feel honored by the love and appreciation I have received in this country. I never dreamed of a plaque being placed in this magnificent ‘Ice Palace’, yet here I am.”

“I feel very happy as if I am standing at the pinnacle of Europe,” he said. Chopra enthralled the crowd at the ‘Ice Palace’ by showcasing his javelin throwing skills. Chopra had earlier gifted a javelin to the Olympic Museum in Switzerland.
