Tata Group: If the dues are not given then you will not get electricity…

The government had given this instruction citing section 11 of the Electricity Act. But Tata Power said it would not comply with the direction if its dues were not cleared. The company said in a letter to the Center on February 27 that it would cease to operate under Section 11 if the dues of Coastal Power Gujarat Ltd were not cleared. This company has a 4,000 MW plant in Mundra, Gujarat. This plant supplies electricity to five states.
Demand to end the purchase agreement
According to sources, the company has also sought the Centre’s help in entering into a special power purchase agreement with these five states. He says that if this cannot happen, then the power purchase agreements with these states should be abolished. This allows CGPL to sell power to the exchanges. Tata Power did not respond to an email sent to it in this regard. This plant has not yet started its operation. The company has told the government that CGPL does not have the money to buy coal. A source said that the demand for power has come down due to the recent change in weather. This has also reduced the cost of electricity. Probably due to this the company has not started its operation.
