Apple iPhone Production: Apple wants to promote iPhone manufacturing in India as soon as possible. Apple and its suppliers aim to make more than 50 million iPhones every year in India within the next two-three years, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people involved.
Taking advantage of this plan of the company, Tata Group has planned to set up a new iPhone assembly plant in the country. The big thing is that this will be one of the largest iPhone assembly plants in India.
Citing people associated with the matter, Bloomberg has said that Tata has decided to set up its factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The plant will have about 20 assembly lines. This will provide employment to at least 50 thousand people in two years. The company aims to start operations in 12 to 18 months.
Let us tell you that Tata already has an iPhone factory in Karnataka. Tata has purchased it from electronics company Wistron. The company is understood to be working with assembly and manufacturing partners outside China in India, Thailand, Malaysia and elsewhere to diversify its operations.
According to the report, Tata’s new plant will be of mid size. This plan will be bigger than the plant in Karnataka and slightly smaller than Foxconn’s largest iPhone factories in China. Currently around ten thousand people are working in the iPhone plant in Karnataka.
Tata Group, which has established its presence in business ranging from salt to airplanes, is taking several steps to expand its business with Apple. It is being told that the company has increased the hiring in its existing facility in Hosur. Currently, the iPhone enclosure or metal casing of the iPhone is produced here.
At present, Apple has opened two stores in the country to expand its business. Whereas, there is a possibility of opening three more stores. Whereas, Tata is working on a plan to launch 100 retail stores focused on Apple products.
