The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Praveer Sinha gave this information. Tata Power had entered into an agreement with the Tamil Nadu government to set up the plant in July 2022 in the state’s Tirunelveli district with an investment of Rs 3,000 crore. The construction work of this plant is going on at a fast pace. Sinha informed that the target is to commission the plant by the end of December this year. The contract for equipment for setting up the plant has already been awarded. He made the remarks in response to a question on the timeline of the project.
As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Government of Tamil Nadu, Tata Power Company is to set up a new 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module manufacturing plant in the state. “We are hopeful that the module plant will be ready by August-September and after September the modules will start rolling out,” he said. We are in a very advanced stage of commissioning the SAIL plant, which will be ready by the end of this year. On the 225 MW hybrid project in Karnataka, he said the company is awaiting regulatory approval for power purchase. .
