Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Thursday that the contribution of the digital economy to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to exceed 20 per cent by 2026. Addressing the ‘G-20 Digital Innovation Alliance Summit’ here, Chandrasekhar said that India is a major country which has adopted technology very fast and has now started offering solutions to the world. He said, “The contribution of digital economy to GDP was 4 to 4.5 per cent in 2014, which has increased to 11 per cent today. And we estimate that by 2026, the contribution of the digital economy to GDP will exceed 20 percent.

Chandrasekhar said that India has embraced technology not only for innovation in the broadest sense, but also for providing real solutions. It has changed people’s lives, governance and democracy in the last few years. Appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision to make maximum use of digital technology, the minister said he has envisioned the coming decade as ‘TECHED’ (technology). decade of).
