According to the Rice Roti Rate Report by CRISIL Market Intelligence and Analytics (MI&A) Research, home-made vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali rates declined by three per cent and five per cent respectively in December.
It has been said that the reason for the decline in the price of vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali is the cheapness of onion and tomato. On a monthly basis, onion prices have declined by 14 percent and tomato prices by three percent in December.
Due to the end of the festive season, the prices of these vegetables used in home kitchen have decreased. The report says that due to the five-seven percent decline in the price of broiler on a monthly basis, the cost of non-vegetarian thali has decreased more rapidly.
Broilers account for 50 percent of the cost of a non-vegetarian thali. The average cost of preparing thali at home is calculated based on the prices of preparing thali in North, South, East and West India.
12 percent increase in price of vegetarian thali on annual basis:
The data also shows that the price of thali changes depending on the prices of grains, pulses, broilers, vegetables, spices, edible oil and cooking gas. The report further states that the price of vegetarian thali has increased by 12 percent on an annual basis,
Whereas the price of non-vegetarian thali has declined by four percent. It said that the main reason for the increase in the cost of sending vegetarian food is the increase in the prices of onion and tomato by 82 and 42 percent respectively.
