Thiruvananthapuram. The first techno-musician of Malayalam film industry, K.J. Joy died in Chennai early on Monday.
He worked in around 200 films, including 12 Hindi films.
Joy got the tag of techno-musician when he pioneered the use of technology, including the use of keyboards for the first time in South Indian cinema.
77-year-old Joy, who hails from Thrissur, started his music career under his mentor M.S. Vishwanathan, who launched him as a full-time music director in the 1975 Malayalam film ‘Love Letter’, after which he never looked back.
After suffering a stroke, Joy spent most of the time at his home in Chennai, where his last rites would be held.
