EPFO has sent a circular to all its zonal offices. It said that the Ministry of Labor and Employment has informed that the government has approved the credit of 8.15 per cent interest in the EPF of all EPF account holders for 2022-23. EPFO invests the amount deposited in the PF account holder’s account in many places. A part of the earnings from this investment is given to the account holders in the form of interest. This will benefit more than seven crore members of EPFO. A deduction of 12% on the basic salary of an employee is made for the EPF account. If we talk about the employer, then 8.33 percent of the deduction made on his behalf goes to EPS (Employees’ Pension Scheme), while the remaining 3.67 percent goes to EPF. Last time, due to software upgradation, late interest money was received in the accounts of the members.
