Tomatoes procured by NCCF and NAFED were initially sold at Rs 90 per kg. After this, from July 16, 2023, its price was reduced to Rs 80 per kg. According to the statement, “by reducing the price and selling it at Rs 70 per kg, the consumers will be benefited further.” The statement said that on the instructions of the government, NCCF and NAFED have together increased the availability in those major consumption centers. Started procuring tomatoes from the mandis of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra, where retail prices have recorded maximum increase in the last one month.
Retail sale of tomatoes in Delhi to begin from July 14, 2023
The retail sale of tomatoes in the National Capital Territory of Delhi started from July 14, 2023. Till July 18, 2023, a total of 391 tonnes of tomatoes were procured from both the agencies.
