The Kerala Story reached close to 60 crores, showed a jump on Tuesday

Actress Adah Sharma, who has made her mark as a permanent performer in films produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, recently released The Kerala Story, taking the box office by storm owing to its controversies. Made on a budget of just 28 crores, the film has earned double the cost on its fifth day of release, entering itself in the 50 crore club. The surprising thing is that usually there is a decline in the business of the film between Monday to Thursday but there is a boom here. The Kerala Story, which did a business of 16.50 crores on Sunday, did a business of 10.50 crores on Monday, while taking the lead again on Tuesday, it managed to collect 11 crores.

The Kerala Story-starrer Adah Sharma is creating waves among the audience due to its controversial and sensitive subject. Directed by Sudipto Sen, the film released across the cinema halls on 5 May amid several controversies. The film is going big at the box office despite facing hurdles. The backlash for The Kerala Story is getting bigger as the Bengal government recently banned the film. Nevertheless, the film managed to earn in double digits on the fifth day on Tuesday as well.

Amidst all the controversies surrounding The Kerala Story, the film is getting a mixed response from the audience. While some labeled it as a propaganda film, another section of netizens termed it as brilliant. Kerala Story earned Rs 8 crore on the opening day. It registered the fifth biggest opening for a Hindi film in 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan.

As per early estimates, the film showed a growth of around 10 percent on May 5, May 9. It reportedly earned Rs 11 crore at the box office. In this way, the total collection of The Kerala Story now stands at Rs 57 crore. It had an overall Hindi occupancy of 29.67 per cent as on 9 May.

The Kerala Story The story revolves around an innocent Hindu woman from Kerala who is brainwashed and converted by her Islamic friends. He was later transferred to the ISIS terrorist organization. The film is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amritlal Shah. The film claims to be based on real-life incidents where around 32,000 women from Kerala are trapped under this dangerous scheme.

The film has been under the scanner ever since the trailer was released. Following this, there has been an increase in outrage and protests demanding a ban on the film. However, the details of the film’s trailer have recently changed from the story of 32,000 women to the story of three women. This started another round of debate.
