Vipul Shah’s lawyer Amit Naik is going to register the case soon. In this case, he will refer to the decision of reservation. It is known that the Supreme Court had passed an order, which said that any film approved by CBFC cannot be banned by any state.
Mamta Banerjee banned
In fact, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday (May 8) ordered a ban on the release of ‘The Kerala Story’ in the state to prevent any kind of hate and violence-filled incidents or protests. Vipul Shah has spoken of taking legal action against this order of Mamta Banerjee.
Challenge citing reservation decision
Vipul Shah’s lawyer Amit Naik told our colleague ETimes about this, ‘A case will be registered under Article 32 against the ban on the film in Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Article of the Indian Constitution gives the citizens of the country the right to approach the Supreme Court for justice when they feel that they have been ‘unnecessarily deprived’ of their rights or entitlements.
Vipul Shah will also file a case in Tamil Nadu as the film’s release has been banned there too. While The Kerala Story has been banned in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, it has been made tax-free in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Vipul Shah said this
On the other hand, Vipul Shah expressed displeasure over the controversy over ‘The Kerala Story’ and spoke of legal action. Talking to the media, he said, ‘If there is any controversy with a film, it will become a hit, so I would request you to try this with any upcoming film. By talking like this, we are belittling the issue, the quality of the film and the intelligence of the people. We should avoid this. We should respect people’s reaction. We should make this reaction of the people sit on our heads and eyes.
