Mumbai After two consecutive sessions of decline in the domestic markets, there was a rise in early trade on Thursday and Sensex and Nifty reached their all-time high. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 497.06 points or 0.67 per cent to hit an all-time high of 74,373.88. NSE Nifty rose 144.70 points or 0.64 per cent to its record high of 22,579.35. Shares of 28 companies listed in Sensex were in profit.
Shares of HDFC Bank, NTPC, PowerGrid, Tata Steel and Axis Bank gained the most. Only shares of IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank suffered losses. Shares of 46 companies out of 50 companies listed in NSE Nifty were in profit. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.37 per cent higher at US$88.68 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 2,213.56 crore on Wednesday.
