MumbaiIndian benchmark indices were trading in the red on Wednesday morning. In this, BSE Metals index was the only sectoral index to gain. Talking about the top losing sectors, BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods Index was the top loser.
The BSE Sensex is trading down around 48 points or 0.07% at 65,172 and the NSE Nifty-50 index is down around 8 points or 0.04% at 19,390. Today, 2,089 scrips advanced, 1,201 scrips declined and 178 scrips remained unchanged on the BSE.

Top gainers and losers on BSE:

Axis Bank, Reliance Industries Limited and Larsen & Toubro Limited were the top gainers on the Sensex today in the Bombay Stock Exchange. ITC Limited, Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited and Jio Financial Services Limited were the top losers on the Sensex.

Indices in the broader market traded higher, with BSE Mid-Cap index rising 0.55% and BSE Small-cap index rising 0.83%. Top mid-cap gainers were Indian Hotel Company Ltd. and Indian Overseas Bank, while top small-cap gainers were Gulshan Polyols Ltd. and Vascon Engineers Ltd.

The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies as on 23 August 2023 is approximately Rs 309 lakh crore. With this, 203 stocks hit 52-week highs and 22 stocks hit 52-week lows.
