New Delhi: While the Wall Street indices closed with a significant fall in the overnight session, the Indian benchmark indices started today’s session on a sluggish note. Market is open today with red mark. Fluctuating between modest gains and losses led to weakness in most Asian markets. At 11:20 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.10% to the level of 63,462. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.10% to 18,837. Tata Steel, ICICI Bank and HDFC were top gainers on the Sensex, while Infosys, Bajaj Finance and Power Grid Corporation of India have been the top draggers of the market. BSE Information Technology was the worst performing sector with a loss of around 1%. While BSE Auto and BSE Capital Goods tried to boost the indices. The advance-decline ratio remained in favor of the advance, with 1,742 scrips advancing and 1,507 scrips declining on the BSE. BSE Smallcap index outperformed the major indices by a wide margin. DMCC Specialty Chemicals Ltd was the top gainer on BSE Smallcap, with its shares surging over 14%. Due to which the small-cap bulls remained active in the weak market. There was also heavy buying in the shares of Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd and Cheviot Company Ltd. The following penny stocks locked in the upper circuit today.
