Washington (Uttam Hindu News): Aylo Holdings (formerly MindGeek), parent company of adult entertainment platform Pornhub, will pay $1.8 million to the US government to settle allegations that it profited from sex trafficking. The company was accused of engaging in unlawful monetary transactions involving the proceeds of sex trafficking, after entering into a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to resolve the charges.
The DPA provides for the appointment of a monitor for three years and payment to the United States and persons adversely affected by sex trafficking. A United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York said in a statement that, according to Aiello’s confession and court documents, between 2017 and 2019, the company “received money that Aiello knew or should have known.” “It was derived from the sex trafficking operations of GirlsDoporn (GDP) operators.”
United States Attorney Brion said, “This deferred prosecution agreement holds Pornhub.com’s parent company accountable for its role in hosting videos and accepting payments from criminal actors who posted videos of young women without their consent. “Forced to engage in sexual acts on video.”
“Our hope is that this resolution, which includes some agreed payments to women whose photos were posted on the company’s platforms and an independent monitoring, will bring some measure of redress to those negatively affected.”
Aylo has also agreed to provide monetary payments to victims of GDP operators who have not otherwise already received compensation, and whose images were posted on Aylo’s platforms. Earlier this week, Pornhub, StripChat and XVideos were added to the list of platforms subject to strict regulation under the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA).
