TMH-RVNL tie-up places lowest bid for 200 Vande Bharat trains

According to sources, a consortium of TMH and RVNL has placed a bid of Rs 120 crore for a Vande Bharat train set. This is even less than the Rs 128 crore manufacturing cost incurred on the Vande Bharat trains made by ICF-Chennai.
Russian company CJSC Transmashholding and Rail Development Corporation Ltd. (TMH-RVNL) has made the lowest bid for the Rs 58,000-crore contract for manufacturing and maintenance of 200 Vande Bharat trains. Official sources gave this information on Wednesday. According to sources, a consortium of TMH and RVNL has placed a bid of Rs 120 crore for a Vande Bharat train set. This is even less than the Rs 128 crore manufacturing cost incurred on the Vande Bharat trains made by ICF-Chennai.
According to sources, the second lowest bidder for this huge contract was Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) and Titagarh Wagons in alliance. A consortium of BHEL and Titagarh Wagons has bid for Rs 140 crore per train set. Officials, however, said the alliance would be given a chance to match the lowest bid to win the tender. The contract, worth around Rs 58,000 crore, includes the manufacture and maintenance of 200 Vande Bharat trains for 35 years.
