In view of this, the country’s leading UCO Bank had also decided to send sweets to NPA holders. However, it was very difficult for the bank to take this decision and due to continuous opposition from the bank, the bank had to withdraw its decision. UCO Bank had recently decided that sweet boxes would be sent to 10 NPA holders. But the bank has now withdrawn this decision.
The bank’s recent circular states that the instructions given earlier are withdrawn. Let us tell you that earlier on November 1, in the circular, UCO Bank had said that the top management had asked to send packets of sweets to the top 10 NPA borrowers of each branch. Bank managers will personally meet these borrowers and give them boxes of sweets. Instructions were also issued to zonal heads to personally meet and congratulate NPA borrowers on the occasion of Diwali.
In an earlier circular, the bank had said that the gap with the bank can be bridged by proper engagement with such customers. Such behavior creates a feeling of sympathy and goodwill between the bank and the customers. By doing this, other borrowers of many banks may also be attracted towards UCO Bank.
Bank employees had protested
Bank employees had strongly opposed this circular. Let us tell you that this is not the first time, but before this SBI has also adopted a similar path. Banks have been adopting the path of humility for NPA recovery. In the month of September, SBI had also worked on a similar strategy, under which a box of chocolates would be given to defaulters by visiting their homes.
