Record increase in the number of passengers
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that there has been a record increase in the number of passengers traveling on domestic flights. He said that before the year 2014, 400 aircraft were providing passenger service in the country. At present, their number has increased to 700. Despite this, there is a huge gap between demand and supply. At present, around 3.70 lakh to 4.20 lakh people are traveling in the country every day. And if it continues like this, this number can reach up to 5 lakhs during the festive season.
Most of the engines are from the same company.
In response to a question, he said that if 50 per cent aircraft of a company get grounded due to engine service problem, it is a matter of judicial inquiry. A company that has about 60 aircrafts. Half of it is grounded. He said that a rapidly growing aviation market like India cannot tolerate this situation. Ironically, most of the aircrafts that are grounded are from the same company. Told that as far as the contract between the two parties is concerned, it is not in their jurisdiction.
